HISTORY
In The Beginning . . .

Beacon Light Ministries was founded in 2001 as a faith-based organization dedicated to meeting the humanitarian needs in the U.S and those internationally. While maintaining an active role with relief efforts in Canada, the U.S., Honduras and Cuba, BLM has been blessed to share much of its resources to humanitarian efforts in Haiti.
In July 2002, David May, president of BLM, and I visited Haiti to research relief efforts and missions with the intent of engaging support from BLM.

I was in awe at the beauty of the countryside, but shocked by the living conditions. It was frightening to watch children swim in sewage and live in what seemed to be a garbage dump.

It was heart wrenching to watch mothers abandon their children rather than have the children starve in their own homes. It was devastating to watch fellow human beings suffer through indescribable pain due to lack of medical care. Suffering was all around us!

We are exposed to images of pain and suffering everyday. However, there is nothing more awakening than being able to see, hear, touch, and smell the needs first hand.

While there was a lack of food, water and medical care there was not a lack of love. For all their trials, pain and suffering, the Haitian people seemed to have a Godly hope, almost beyond description.
