Medical Clinic (Cap Haitian, Haiti)

Dr. Mark Pearson, MD, board certified in Emergency Medicine, knew he wanted to be medical missionary long before he began his mission 3 years ago in Haiti. After working as a chemical engineer and a nuclear engineer, Mark went back to school in his early thirties with the express purpose of completing both the undergraduate and medical school requirements to serve as a medical missionary doctor. Some 14 years of schooling and training later, he now serves as one of the only U.S. trained doctor to a population of 300,000 to 500,000 Haitian residents.

After 3 or more years of working through some of the thickest political red tape imaginable, Dr. Mark Pearson is formally recognized as a medical doctor in Haiti. This opens many doors of on-going service to the medical needs in Haiti. Unless you know the unbelievable difficulty in gaining this recognition, I'm sure it's hard to imagine it's significance. Please trust us when we say this is HUGE NEWS. We are very excited about God's guiding and leading men like Dr. Pearson. He has demonstrated a commitment to God that we rarely see in today's world.

Mark's dream for many years has been to provide quality healthcare in a permanent setting (i.e. hospital, etc.) to those who would otherwise be denied because of poverty and poor domestic healthcare skills.

In a word, without people like Dr. Mark Pearson and his family, many Haitians would suffer needless or die. With no money to pay for healthcare, most Haitians are denied access to any form of healthcare outside of volunteers like Dr. Pearson. We are honored to be associated with his family and are excited to share his story in a future issue.
